Repairs to main power cables supplying the Tītahi Bay area
Background
We're carrying out repairs on the main underground power cables that supply Tītahi Bay, which run alongside Titahi Bay Road. The repairs will ensure we can continue to deliver a reliable supply of electricity, so it's important that we carry them out without delay.
What's happening
We started the work in July 2022, and recommenced in October following storm conditions which delayed our progress. We'll be digging alongside the road (shown on the interactive map below), with traffic management in place to keep our crews and customers safe.
We’ll aim to keep knock-on impacts like traffic congestion to a minimum and don’t plan to have any power outages while we carry out the work, but we apologise in advance for any disruption caused.
We'll keep this page updated with the progress of repairs.
Is my power supply at risk?
There are two main cables that supply Tītahi Bay, which means there's a backup supply available should anything happen to interrupt power on the other cable. For safety reasons, only one of these cables will be able to supply electricity while we carry out the work, but we have contingency plans in place to re-route power from other parts of our network should there be any issues.
Please be assured that we're working as quickly as we can to complete the repairs and remain committed to providing safe and reliable electricity to your area.
